Dr. Horrible Sequel Has Been Planned, DVD Contest Announced

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

At the Joss Whedon Dr. Horrible Comic Con panel, Jed Whedon confirmed that there are vague plans in place for a Dr. Horrible sequel. “The idea is that there will be another part, so we’re not going to tell you about it yet.” and for the DVD, “We are going to take video submissions for the Evil League of Evil.”

Digg Should Be Burried!

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

How does it make sense that an article that was submitted to digg gets more than 1600 votes and nearly 90 comments and does NOT go popular?

Anyone regular to digg probably knows this isn’t the first time something like this has happened - but what gives? Is there some conspiracy against Joss Whedon here?

I’ve just gotta ask what’s the point of digg if the popular stuff doesn’t get to be popular?

Before anyone says it, this isn’t about a bunch of Whedon fans getting their knickers in a twist - Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is attracting the interest of mainstream media, not just Whedon fans. Dr Horrible is as much about changing the face of entertainment as we know it today as it is about merely entertaining a few fans.

io9.com reports:

If online video is ever going to become a medium that challenges network TV, that challenge is going to start with shows like Dr. Horrible. Shows that aren’t afraid to be what they are. You know, blogs. Where people sing and wear rubber gloves and take over the world.

Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is without a doubt worthy of being called popular all over the internet, appearing on the front page of the LA Times, TIME, MSN.com, Google News - Entertainment, Cinema Blend, MeeVee and many others. Perhaps most importantly - because it involves people parting with hard earned cash - after only a few hours of being listed on iTunes it shot to #1 TV season and within 24 hours of being listed was #1 TV episode downloaded. So, is this proof of a digg conspiracy?

Note: I was watching both these items and they had many many votes within 24 hours of being posted

UPDATE: it’s interesting to note that a representitive of digg? posted this comment on the Dr Horrible website where reference to this article was made.

“There is no conspiracy. We love Dr. Horrible.”

It’s also interesting to note that we were neither banned nor “burried” for this particular digg (good news) however it didn’t make popular receiving only around 90 votes.

Blog Rating

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Out of 15,000 “Personal” Blogs rated at Blogged, TalHost.net has been given a rating of 8.3 by a Blogged editor.

At first I thought this was kinda like poetry.com where pretty much everything that’s submitted gets published and they tell you how great you are to make you buy their books and stuff..so I checked the Personal category to see what other ratings were like.  Turns out that out of the 15,000 personal blogs that have been rated, an 8.3 puts me in the top 140-350 blogs.  I was quite surprised that it didn’t seem like some scam to get me to drive up their search engine ranking.

Kinda cool!  You can even rate my blog yourself by clicking on the banner thingy in the bar over there on the right :)
